People in the building kept on asking me about internet problems because they see me using computers all the time. I told most of them that normally everything should be fixed this week,  and  I also received confirmation this morning. One dude thought that I was the guard of the building since my studio is right above the entrance of the parking lot.

Bouygues sent the FREE 3G /H+Hotspot + the FREE Sim Card. All I needed was the Sim card and, as I predicted, it immediately connected to the 4G network with my own 4G Hotspot.

So here I am on UNLIMITED 4G! Happy happy :)!

Yesterday, my internet provider told me that the internet lane should be connected on May 26. I told them that it is impossible to believe them since it has been 3 months and 4 times that it has changed. So I requested an unlimited 3G Hotspot  to be connected and they agreed!

Also, it’s been raining since yesterday. It is good because it will clean up the air full of particles.

It has been 7 months now that I’ve started my down payment for the mortgage. 19 months is the exact amount of time that it will take me to pay back all the interest/insurance charges (~12800 Euros in total). Therefore, 12 more months to go and it will be all my money!  Yea yEa yea!

Also 5 months without rent = 650 * 5 = 3250 euros saved!

One new couple just moved in yesterday on my floor. Tons and tons of stuff to carry up. Slowly but surely they moved in but it is strange that it has been so slow. Almost 3 months since I moved in. Our internet connection might be fixed by the time they all move in.

Looks like the workers won’t finish their current job connecting my building to the street internet/phone lane yet. An annoying electrical cable is also hanging really low in front of the entrance of my parking for 4 days now. On the other side, I am paying about the same amount of money for internet in 4G than I would normally pay for 3 months with the provider: 37.90 * 3 = 114 Euros. They are currently adding 1 month free as a commercial gesture.

5 Prepaid Sim cards with 2 days unlimitted: 9.90 * 5= 49.5 Euros
2 * 6GB recharge: 60 euros
Total: 110 Euros

I prefer the 4G connection if I had to choose if it was unlimitted. It is very smooth and I can take it with me anywhere in France provided that I am near a “Bouygues” antenna. It is faster than the ADSL2 lane connection.

On Saturday, I went to Paris and ate a sandwich with Aurore  at the the garden called, “Les Tuileries” outside of “Le Louvre”. Aurore is a friend from school since I was 13. It gave me a chance to see the nice pyramids in “Le  carrousel du Louvre”. We walked to the Eiffel tower. It was a long walk. The weather was really nice. I did some exercises and also went to the park on my bike on Sunday.

Result: minus 1 kg! I wanted to loose this extra kg for a while but did not find the courage to achieve this goal.

I switched to another phone provider: SFR RED 10 Euros / month (Illimited calls and 5G data). It is 10 euros cheaper than my current provider with more data.

Yesterday, I saw a car burning on the side of the highway when I rode my bike to the park. The fog was dark and extremely noxious.

I stopped and checked the event for few minutes. It was horrible and many cars were stuck in the exit lane.

The idea of running out of data on prepaid 4G SIM cards is scary. I am using internet so fast that 6 Gb can be used in less than 30 min. I was afraid of running out of data and not being able to recharge right away this weekend. Indeed, you cannot buy again 6 Gb before the end of 30 days therefore I bought 2 extra SIM cards.

In total I have my own phone SIM card (5gb) + 3 prepaid SIM CARDS – 6 gb / 30 days (2 already used – no more recharge)

I bought one more that should arrive by mail on Monday. Internet should work next week.

Today I went to renew my passport. I thought it would be one of these ordinary and boring administrative stuff but it turned out to be quite enjoyable.

Before the meeting, I was upset about my ID photos, they were ugly and I spent the afternoon messing around with a nice picture. Anyways, I was prepared and I had the ugly standardized photos with me . I then entered the room and met a woman. After going through few steps, she immediately detected the abnormal stuffs: my origin, the place where I was born and my mother’s maiden name. Each time, I offered a simple answer in a way that would make it fit without being perfect: it was borderline but sincere and witty.

Then came the photos, she immediately said : “hum this is not a formal standardized photo”. I did not say anything hoping to drop the tricky matter. The machine rejected the photo and she looked at me with her smarty eyes waiting for an answer like I did before.

I simply said:  “I have the standardized photos but they are ugly”.

The woman replied: “You are a little smart ass, aren’t you?” She did not seem upset at all but her smile showed that she had lots of experience. She offered kindly to approve the photo if I wish but …she gave me a chance to answer like I did before. She seemed to enjoy my way of doing things differently.

I gave her reluctantly the ugly photos. She smiled again and said, you look just fine.

Funny witty woman!

I finally see people digging  next to my building; They finally came to extend the phone/internet lanes to our new building. Since it is a long week with Thursday as public holiday I doubt it will be finished this week. Probably next week. I do not mind my 4G connection but it is a bit pricey since I finished the free trial 2 weeks ago.
